What we actually collect — without the usual talk about “improving service quality”. Updated 03 September 2026.

Who processes the data

The site search-host.com (the Service). The personal data operator is the site owner (details to be confirmed).

For any question about your data write to info@search-host.com — it is a working mailbox and a person reads it.

What is collected without an account

A fingerprint of the IP address, not the address

When a page opens we record an irreversible fingerprint of the IP address (SHA-256 with the service’s secret key). The address itself is stored nowhere and cannot be recovered from the fingerprint. It serves exactly one purpose: telling one visitor from another so the counters do not lie.

Approximate location and network

Country, city and network name are determined from the GeoLite2 database at the moment of the visit. The precision is city level, not an address.

Technical details of the request

The address of the page opened, the browser type and the time. We use the same data to separate live visitors from crawlers and scrapers.

Visits to providers

Pressing the “Get started” button is recorded: which plan, which provider, the IP fingerprint, and whether the link was an affiliate one. The provider is not told which of our pages you came from — the Referer header is switched off.

What is collected when you register

  • Your name. Others see it next to your reviews and votes.
  • Your email address — for signing in, confirming the address and resetting the password. It is shown to nobody.
  • Your password as an irreversible hash: we do not know it and cannot tell it to you, only reset it.
  • A profile picture, if you uploaded one.
  • The date of your last sign-in, your reviews and your votes.

Cookies and browser storage

The Service sets two cookies, both essential:

  • search-host-session — signing in, the comparison list, the filters you chose.
  • XSRF-TOKEN — protecting forms against request forgery.

There are no advertising or analytics cookies. Browser storage holds only a note that you dismissed the cookie notice. You can disable cookies in your browser — then signing in and comparison stop working, and the catalogue remains available.

What we do not do

  • We do not add third-party analytics — no Google Analytics, no Yandex.Metrica, none at all.
  • We do not place advertising pixels and do not build advertising profiles.
  • We do not sell or pass data to third parties for marketing.
  • We do not load fonts or scripts from other domains: everything sits on our own server, so your IP does not leave it when a page opens.

Who else sees the data

The data is kept on a server rented from FirstVDS; сервер расположен в Российской Федерации. Emails — address confirmation, password recovery, sign-in attempt notices — are sent through VK WorkMail (Mail.ru for Business); only the recipient address and the text of the letter are passed to it. There are no other recipients.

How long we keep it

  • Account data — for as long as the account exists.
  • Visit and click fingerprints — anonymised statistics, kept without a time limit: no person can be reconstructed from them.
  • Reviews and votes — indefinitely, as they form the provider ratings; when an account is deleted they are anonymised.

Your rights

You have the right to learn what data of yours we hold, to correct it, to withdraw your consent to processing and to demand deletion. You can change your name and picture yourself in your account. For anything else write to info@search-host.com — we answer within 30 days, as the law requires.

By registering on the Service you agree to the processing of the data listed above on the terms described. Changes take effect when published; the date of the last change is shown at the top.
