Domain age

Find out when a domain was registered and how old it is — from the registry's data.

Free, no sign-up. We don't store the addresses you check.

Why know a domain's age

Age hints at how long a site has been around: a shop that opened a week ago deserves more caution. When buying a domain second-hand, the date shows whether it was re-registered recently.

We take the date from the zone's registry. If a domain was ever released and registered again, its age counts from the new registration.

Frequently asked questions

Does domain age affect search rankings?

Directly — hardly at all. But an old domain usually has more links and history, and that helps the site.

Why is the age less than the site has been running?

The domain may have been released and registered again — then the count starts from the new date. Or the site moved to another domain.
