HTTP headers and redirects

We'll show the server's response code, the whole redirect chain and the headers of every response — as browsers and search robots see them.

Free, no sign-up. We don't store the addresses you check.

Response codes

200
All good, the page was served.
301
Permanent redirect: the page has moved for good. Search engines pass the old address's weight to it.
302 / 307
Temporary redirect: the old address stays the main one.
304
Not modified since last time — the browser uses its cache.
403
Access denied: bot protection often answers like this.
404
Page not found.
500 / 502 / 503
A server error, or it's overloaded.

The request goes from our server to ports 80 and 443, without loading the page content. We don't check the certificate here — use the SSL certificate check for that.

Frequently asked questions

How many redirects is normal?

One: for example, from http to https or from www to non-www. A chain of three or more slows the page down and gets in search engines' way.

Why does the site answer 403 but open in the browser?

The site's protection (Cloudflare, DDoS-Guard and the like) blocks automated requests. It doesn't get in a browser's way.
