Virtualization and resources
Scaling (upgrade)
Moving to a bigger plan without reinstalling the server.
A project grows and the server needs more cores, memory or disk. Most providers let you upgrade the plan from the panel: the server reboots with new resources and the data stays in place.
Downgrading is usually harder — a disk cannot be shrunk. So it makes sense to start small and grow with the load.
