Virtualization and resources

vCPU (virtual core)

A CPU core given to a VPS. Usually a thread of a physical core that may be shared with neighbours.

A vCPU is the virtual core your system sees. Most often it is a thread of a physical processor. Several customers' vCPUs may run on one physical core — that is normal and cheaper.

What a vCPU is really worth depends on the processor and how densely the provider fills the server. So look at the CPU model and clock speed, and for heavy workloads at plans with dedicated cores.
